Dear CAROCP member:
On behalf of CAROCP I would like to encourage you to become a member of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), and our new local state chapter (Calif. Career and Occupational Educators). Just as CAROCP is our legislative advocate in Sacramento, ACTE fulfills that role in Washington D.C. In addition, to the support for Federal legislation that your national membership provides, all state chapter dues are rebated back to California for local state activities. The national ACTE membership is $60 and the chapter membership is $20. I urge all of you to join both by using our ACTE approved state membership form.
Most ROCPs now are receiving some sort of Federally supported funds in addition to their ROCP ADA. Examples of Federally supported funds going to ROCPs include CalWorks/TANF, Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Perkins Vocational Training funds. It is vital that the needs of California be taken into account when ACTE lobbies for Vocational Education funds in Washington. The more California members there are in ACTE, the stronger our voice is. CAROCP and ACTE are working together to present a cooperative effort at the Federal level.
In addition to serving as a Federal legislative advocate ACTE offers its members a number of valuable services. These include:
ACTE membership forms and brochures are available through the CAROCP membership chair at each ROCP. The membership application is also available online at carocp.org. I hope that you will take the opportunity to add your name to the national ACTE and the state chapter membership roles.
Sincerely,
Laurel Adler
