Listing of Credential Issues Pertinent to CAROCP

  • CAROCP should develop "we believe" guidelines and work on getting out more complete information on credential processes, processing, regulations, etc. There needs to be clarification on employer (LEA, as defined by credentials) responsibility-specifically as it relates to interpretation of experience.

  • Recommend to CAROCP Board that there be a Credentialing Standing Committee with one of the specific charge of keeping current on emerging/changing occupations (career preparation, workforce development, not specific job titles).

  • Meet with Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) representative to establish/reestablish relationship where problems can be identified and input to "The List" can be provided. CAROCP needs to be in contact with CTC specifically about the following ROCP needs.
    1. County office and varying interpretations on the part of credential technicians.
    2. Research meetings, association contacts, etc., that credential technicians/specialists attend. Possibly put on workshop sessions. CTC does hold spring workshops-need to get the information.
    3. ROCP inservice related to credentials, such as appropriateness of the credential to a particular course, and consistency of information statewide.

  • Lack of consistency in package of credential requirements from LEA to LEA.
